School Counsellors

A counselling service is provided to support our students by helping them to explore and talk in confidence about their concerns. Counselling can help with stress, anxiety, bullying, family life, low mood, self harm, friendships, relationships, future plans, anger, dealing with school issues, bereavement and many more issues not mentioned here.

How counselling works

Students are usually seen for 30 to 50 minutes each week and this can be for up to six weeks when the counsellor and student will review the progress being made.  Students will be offered a confidential space in which to talk through their concerns without being judged or told what to do.

Students may access the service in several ways:

Students who self-refer will be strongly encouraged to tell their parents/carers, but if they are not ready to do this their confidentiality will be respected.

We also offer online counselling using a secure platform for email, video or instant messaging and hold a drop-in service every Wednesday lunchtime. The counsellor attends TBS on Tuesdays and Wednesdays.  If you would like more information or to make an appointment to talk to the Counsellor please contact your child’s Year Leader.
