Year 8

Welcome back Year 8 students and parents from your summer break, and I trust you all enjoyed plenty of rest, relaxation and time with family and friends.

With your help, and with my team of mentors, I aim to build upon the foundations laid down in Year 7, and strive for even more success for this fantastic year group. Students’ “attitudes to learning” is a key feature of our work, striving for every student to unlock their potential with a “can do” attitude and positive mind-set, which allows the students to overcome the challenges they will face in the coming year.

I look forward to working with you all. Should you have any queries or concerns please do not hesitate to contact your child’s mentor, teacher or myself.

 My Personalised Curriculum - MPC

We are pleased that we have been able to adapt our Year 9 curriculum for the next academic year, enabling us to deliver ‘My Personalised Curriculum’ (MPC), a programme that gives students the opportunity to enhance their curriculum and prepare for the Options process that takes place at the end of Year 9.  Students currently in Year 8 will be selecting their choices before the end of this academic year.

The MPC programme will provide a set of enriching activities that our students can enjoy, while also giving them an element of choice and encouraging them to consider their options moving into Year 10 and beyond.  Each activity will be a project-based module lasting for one term, delivered in one lesson a week, so students will participate in three across the year, one per term.  Students will therefore be asked to choose five from the list of eight, ranking them in order of preference, and we will endeavour to offer them their top three choices.  The list of options includes photography, song writing, meditation and mindfulness, beauty and a cooking course.
